My scientific interests are focused primarily on glacial, fluvial, and regional geomorphology (both lowland and upland areas), palaeogeography and Quaternary geology, sedimentology of continental deposits, as well as regional physical geography. I serve as editor of the scientific journal Acta Universitatis Lodziensis, Folia Geographica Physica. I am also actively involved in the popularization of scientific knowledge, especially in the disciplines related to my research interests.
I teach courses at all three levels of university education. The subjects I conduct include seminars, discussion classes, fundamentals of physical geography, geomorphology and surface protection, applied geomorphology, methods of soil and substrate research, as well as elective lectures (this year: The Natural Environment of Northern Europe, Processes of the Glacial Environment and Their Morphological and Landscape Expression).
Between 1981 and 1986, I studied geography at the University of Łódź. I completed a specialization in geomorphology and Quaternary palaeogeography. I have been employed at the University of Łódź since July 1, 1986, when I started working at the Department of Geomorphology and remained there until October 1, 2010. From 1986 to 1996, I worked as a research assistant, and later as an assistant professor. I obtained my PhD in Earth sciences, in the discipline of geography, specializing in geomorphology, in 1996, based on the dissertation Landform development during the retreat of the Wartanian ice sheet between the Upper Rawka and Pilica Rivers. My habilitation was based on the monograph Reconstruction of the Warta glaciation in the Łódź region. Since 2010, I have held the position of university professor. From 2010 to 2025, I served as Head of the Department of Physical Geography at the University of Łódź.
