Geography

Full-time study program comprises 790 hours, including 260 hours of specialization courses, 260 hours of electives, 30 hours of physical training, master seminar, and 78 hours of lectures common for all geographical specializations.

Postgraduate students of geography can choose one of the following academic specializations (the relevant department is given in parentheses):

  • 'monitoring and development of the environment' (Department of Geomorphology and Paleogeography and Department of Hydrology and Water Management)
  • 'climatology and protection of atmosphere' (Department of Meteorology and Climatology)
  • 'geoecology with ecophysiography' (Department of Physical Geography)
  • 'political and historical geography and regional studies' (Department of Political Geography and Regional Studies)
  • 'urban geography' (Institute of Urban Geography and Tourism)
  • 'geography of culture and regional development' (Department of Regional and Social Geography)
  • 'spatial economy and planning' (Department of Spatial Economy and Planning)

Students of each of the geographical specializations can take optional teacher education courses, including teaching of geography in secondary schools and pedagogical training.
